Streaming platform Max has launched the SharePlay feature for users with iOS devices around the world. It allows subscribers whose accounts don't have parental controls enabled to watch programs and movies on Max simultaneously with their friends and family via FaceTime and iMessage.
SharePlay is now available to all subscribers to the Standard and Premium packages on an ad-free basis. SharePlay can be accessed on the Max via the "Share" icon on each title's details page and in the FaceTime application. A session can be viewed by up to 32 users, all of whom must have the Max application installed on their devices. Playback is synchronized for everyone invited to the SharePlay session. Each user can press start, pause, back and forward buttons.
Minimum operating systems required are: tvOS 15.1, iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1 and visionOS 1.0. The global launch of SharePlay was timed to coincide with the Paris Olympics, allowing users to cheer on sporting events together, and also coincided with the launch of summer programming deals, perfect for watching together with friends and family.
HBO rebranded to Max last year in the US and this June in Europe. The new platform has offered 27 thousand hours of content since its launch.
In Poland, the cheapest standard package costs PLN 19.99. It allows you to watch Full HD quality with commercials. Standard without advertising option costs PLN 29.99, Premium with content in 4K/Dolby Atmos quality costs PLN 49.99. There's also an additional TV Channels and Sport option, which offers over 25 TV channels.
This is a very interesting feature. It is a shame that it is only available to users of iOS devices. Let's hope they extend it to other systems soon.
